Save the date for a close encounter MAY 3-4, 2025 for INVADENTUCKY: A Bradentucky Tournament!

We are hosting our 2nd Annual WFTDA sanctioned roller derby tournament, Invadentucky. Tournament will be held from May 4-5, 2025 at Ellenton Ice & Sports Complex in Bradenton, Florida.

As a league, the Bradentucky Bombers want to be clear that we affirm and support skaters of all genders. This tournament falls under the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) policy which includes gender expansive skaters. We strive to create a safe space in our league and in our venue. If leagues have concerns about traveling to a state that might not be as welcoming, please email us and we are happy to share our processes and procedures and discuss how we might be able to help you feel more comfortable.

Venue Information

Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex
5309 29th Street East
Ellenton, FL 34222

There is a safe and well-lit lot parking directly in front of the venue. Once inside, the roller hockey rink is past the reception desk on the right. Restrooms, drinking fountains, and a water bottle filler are located on the left side of the venue with the hockey rinks. There is a hockey store within our venue that sells mouthguards, laces, and other supplies should they be needed.

We are also located directly adjacent to the Ellenton Premium Outlets, which offer a variety of sporting goods stores should you need anything during the tournament. There’s also great shops and a number of restaurants as a nearby option during tournament downtime.

TEAM Information

Locker rooms and Benches
We will have two dedicated team locker rooms and one dedicated officials/volunteer locker room. These spaces will be patrolled/attended to by a volunteer during the tournament; however, items cannot be left in the locker rooms overnight.

Team benches will be determined at the beginning of each bout. Team benches do not switch at halftime.

Warm up information
Teams will be given a ten-minute warmup prior to the start of each bout. Open track time may be available during halftimes for the next participating team, but availability may be limited should there be halftime performances.

Skate Floor
Our floors are coated concrete that is very slick, making it good for slides and quick, lateral movements. Most Bombers wear softer wheels to accommodate the slide in the 86-90 range.

Airports
There are three area airports that can be utilized to get to Bradenton:

Tampa International Airport (TPA)
Roughly 45 miles from the venue
Largest airport with the most flight options
Large rental car center on site

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
Roughly 20 miles from the venue
Smaller regional airport featuring budget airlines and major commercial carriers
Onsite rental car center

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE)
Roughly 35 miles from the venue
Smaller regional airport featuring budget airlines and major commercial carriers
Major rental car agencies located onsite

Accommodations Recommendations
As a popular tourist destination, there are a variety of hotels and other accommodations near the venue. Given the range in pricing, we did not reserve any room blocks for this weekend as hotels that can accommodate a room block were at the high end of the range.

Hampton Inn by Hilton Ellenton/Bradenton
By far one of the more expensive options, this hotel is the closest to the venue and includes complimentary breakfast

Red Roof Inn Ellenton & Super 8 Ellenton
These are budget-friendly options closer to the rink. They are somewhat low-quality, but are in safe locations.

Airbnb
We’ve had visiting teams have a lot of success in locating large, whole-home accommodations on Airbnb or similar sites to accommodate most (if not all) of their skaters in one house.

Food Recommendations
Our venue supports a snackbar that has the sort of “standard” snackbar fare - hotdogs, nachos, fries, sodas, beers, pretzels, etc. and will be open most hours during the tournament.

Outside food is permitted in our space, and there are a number of fast food and quick service restaurants nearby. Some of our favorites (besides Taco Bell) include:

Peach’s
Sit-down spot for homestyle breakfast, sandwiches, and wraps

Chili’s
Super close, cheap margs, online ordering with easy pick-up options

Shake Station
A quick drive, has a solid vegetarian burger & cheesesteak

Local Bar Recommendations
There’s no shortage of great bars in Downtown Bradenton or Downtown St. Pete. A few we recommend are:

Woody’s River Roo (open until 1am on Sundays)
Three Keys Brewing & Gastrobrew (open until 8pm on Sundays)
Motorworks Brewing (open until 10pm on Sundays)

St. Pete:
